so you hang the salami and the critters are attracted ,why do they fall in the liquid, which I assume is water?Am I missing a part here?

It is just water. They drown. We have many wasps, yellow jackets and bees in our neck of the woods. We even have what they call meat bees. They are Carniverous little nasties that ruin picnics. They are all attracted to the meat smell and idk why they fall in but they do. We chose salami cause it was old in the fridge and smelly make better bait but you could use Bologna or whatever. I’m sure you could finagle something out of any various recycled dairy containers. It would work better if it had only holes in the sides near the top for them to enter and not exit easily. I guess they just tire out and fall into water and drown. Oh darn. Note. We never catch honey bees or bumble bees. Only the wasps.
